City To Sea

by gregory davalos

Oh Miami, how I love thee. What was supposed to be a 2 day trip ended up being a week long adventure in South Beach. I've learned over the years that it's best to book a one way ticket when visiting because I almost always end up extending.

One of my favorite things about Miami is the style. It's laid back, but chic-- with a dash of tropical flare. Something no man should be without in this city is a great pair of sunglasses. From the countless hotels we stayed at on Collins Ave--to the pristine white sand beaches, there wasn't a single moment where I didn't have a pair of Nautica Sunglasses on.

What I love most about Nautica's range of eyewear is the versatility and sleek design. They look and feel very expensive, like Miami, but don't actually break the bank. I've always associated Nautica with the sea, but their sunglass collection speaks to my inner urbanite.

Quite frankly, when i'm in a new city I like to dress the part without loosing my west coast edge. These sunglasses helped me achieve just that.

Privacy Please

by gregory davalos

When you think hashtag goals, what comes to mind? Yachts.... maybe Beyoncé?

How about a private jet to Art Basel with the creme de la creme of high end fashion personalities? Lucky for me, I got to live that fantasy last week.

I spent a quick night in New York and made my way to Teterboro airport to meet with Net Jets. I had seen NetJets on instagram before, but experiencing it in real life was next level. Plane-side drop off, no lines at the airport, Veuve Clicquot champagne and breakfast that isn't served in a box. Is this real life?

Once in the air, the 2.5 hour flight flew by and we touched down in Miami. Within minutes we were whisked away in a fleet of SUVs and checked into the Four Seasons in Brickell.

Weirdly enough the entire experience made me think of my childhood. When I was little my parents would take my brother and I to San Marino during Christmas to look at all the decorated estates. It was a way of showing us what we could achieve if we worked really, really hard.

All I want to do is be able to fly private one day!!!! The entire experience was dream like and left feeling really motivated about 2017.

Cheers! x

Art Basel, Day 1

by gregory davalos

It's that wonderful time of year, when half the world descends upon South Beach for Art Basel. If you haven't attended in the past, Art Basel is a city wide art exhibition that takes place at the beginning of December each year.

As most of you probably already know, I don't come to Miami unless I'm with my best friends Liz and Sam and this year was no different! We kicked off the first day of Basel by brunching with the team from Lens Crafters at the ultra chic Delano Hotel.

Amidst all the talk of art and parties, we discussed the importance of keeping your eyes healthy. After all, what good is art if you can't see it for what it is?

One of the best things you can do is schedule annual eye exams. Lens Crafters is single handedly disrupting the space with their new Clarifye Digital Eye exams. Using advanced digital equipment, Lens Crafters is able to map your eye's unique fingerprint.

Without getting too technical, Clarifye is the digital eye exam that shows you more. You get a quicker, deeper dive into your vision that makes sense and is the most precise eye exam currently being offered by any optometrist.

GET RIGHT, SLEEP TIGHT

by gregory davalos

It's no secret that I spend a solid 70% of my life in and out of hotels when traveling. I love to constantly be on the go, but anyone who's been away from home knows what it's like to miss your own bed.

I have been in the market for a new mattress for literally 6 months. While this is probably #firstworldproblems--i'm never home long enough to go and buy a new mattress. I feel like it's such a process to schlep across town to a store, pick one out, have it delivered, installed etc. etc.

The heavens literally parted when I discovered Sapira. I was already sold when I found out my mattress would be at my door in 5 business days--but it gets better. You can test a Sapira mattress in your house for 100 days risk free. On top of this, Sapira is the FIRST luxury hybrid mattress fusing together the perfect combination of pocket springs and high performance foam.

When the mattress arrived, I was really surprised at how compact the packaging was. I have a king bed, so I recommend having someone help you unbox because it is on the heavier side. Once I took out the mattress and removed the wrapping--the mattress started to expand right before my eyes. It was crazy! It almost looked as if the mattress was being inflated.

Once it was on my bed frame I plopped down on it and INSTANTLY felt the difference. I am not lying to you when I say my back literally opened up, no tension whatsoever. I'm already a late riser as it is, but for the sake of this post--I woke up today at noon because it's that good.

The team at Sapira is being super amazing, and allowing me to give you guys $100.00 dollars off a new mattress by following the link HERE

OKAY BUT WAIT...there's more, if you shop during Black Friday or cyber Monday you get $150 off the Sapira mattress + a $50 amazon.com gift card. You can use the code DOWNTOWNDAVA200
