BEST I'VE EVER HAD

by gregory davalos

There a comes a point in every man's life when you have to trade in your casual garbs and invest in a finely tailored suit. It's a rite of passage that dictates the end of adolescence and the beginning of manhood.

I've always stated that the modern man's wardrobe should be comprised of 60% staples and 40% "fluff." With this in mind, I decided to make an adult investment in a Tom Ford blazer from Neiman Marcus. While Tom Ford does come with a hefty price tag, it goes without saying that their craftsmanship and tailoring is unparalleled to any other ready to wear collection currently on the market.

When I slid my arms into the blazer for the first time, I was welcomed by the buttery silk lining and impeccable fit of the garment. What I love most about this piece, is the versatility. I've never been much of a "suit" guy so when I paired the blazer with wax coated John Varvatos jeans and Gucci sneakers, I was shocked to see how well it all tied together.

In addition, I've found that shopping for men in the designer category can be a bit difficult due the amount of inventory retail stores offer. I can say without a doubt, that Neiman Marcus has the most extensive variety of menswear options that range from classic's like Tom Ford and Dior, to more contemporary, "edgy," designers like Moschino and Saint Laurent.

In closing, I'd like to say this: Yes, designer clothing is expensive. I by no means am someone who is dripping in the best of what the fashion world has to offer. However, there is no better feeling than wearing an impeccably designer outfit that you worked hard and saved for.

SPRING FORWARD

by gregory davalos

As I sit here and write this post, I'm honestly mind boggled that we are on the cusp of April. The last three months have seriously flown by. A quick refresher via Instagram reminded me that I was rained out in Miami and nearly froze to death in New York for a month--okay that's where the time's gone, phew.

Spring time is the best time, honestly. The days become so long, Coachella gets closer --and you can wear outfits like this one. The time also changes, which is a legitimate excuse to get a new time piece--it helps me mourn the loss of that extra hour in the morning. My Timex watch is so simple and I think that makes it really elegant. Its understated and conveniently matches my loafers #winning

Labor of Love

“I would say that a good shoe is exactly like a good wine. These shoes are going to stay and last for a long time.”
— Christian Louboutin

Having grown up in the fantasy land of Los Angeles, i'm no stranger to Christian Louboutin's iconic red soles. Unlike Iggy Azalea, they do wear these where I come from--and in a way, it's made me jaded.

I recently met with the Louboutin team in New York and got the inside scoop on their Homme Bench Made collection. When I opened the email and downloaded these images my jaw dropped a little bit. In a weird way, I had forgotten that you invest in Loubitoun's for the craftsmanship---not to solidify your place on the social totem pole of life.

By definition, a labor of love is a task done for pleasure, not reward. People often say if you love what you do, then you'll never have to work a day in your life. If i could describe the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into every pair of Louboutin(s), it would be this.  However, I can't imagine that creating the world's most beautiful shoe, isn't rewarding. From shaping the last to polishing the shoe and each step in-between, the journey of a Christian Louboutin shoe is a tale of craftsmanship worth telling again and again.

Every Christian Louboutin Men's bench made shoe is created through a unique process that has been specially developed, enabling the signature use of mixed materials, rare materials and special embroideries, to be executed with the highest possible level of quality.

Working directly with Christian, experienced artisans use a combination of traditional and innovative techniques to fully realize his designs. Due to extensive training and experience, they are able to create the shoes from beginning to end, including the preparation of the raw materials which is usually done at a separately located tannery, and execute delicate time-consuming production processes.

Luxe Lacoste Retreat

by gregory davalos

If I could recap my weekend in one word, it would be pure unadulterated luxury. Lacoste invited me down to San Diego for a weekend of #BeautifulTennis at the Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa.

Upon checking in I was greeted by an expansive 2,500 Sq. Ft suite complete with it's own patio and complimentary mini bar (#Goals.) Although my tennis skills were sub-par, I had the best time running drills with the pro tennis instructor.

I can't thank the team at Lacoste and Rancho Valencia for including me in one of the most memorable trips to date!
